The objective of this special issue is to showcase pioneering empirical research and innovative theoretical contributions that further our understanding of rural crime and justice. Submissions that critically engage with the evolving challenges of rural safety are welcomed, including but not limited to the following: agricultural crime, environmental harms, rural violence, policing, community resilience, and the impacts of globalisation and social change on rural spaces.

The latest issue of the "Archive of Criminology" is now available on our website. It was published in February this year, but due to a hacker attack on our website, it was unavailable for some time.

In the issue, you can find a collection of various texts both in Polish (about female sex offenders, restorative justice or juvenile rehabilitation) and in English (the evolution of criminal policy in Ukraine and violent military crimes conducted in the Ukrainian army during the war, the necessity to study middle-class prisoners or the situation of life prisoners in Hungary).

We are pleased to announce that the new issue of our journal has just been published. This is a special issue titled  „Enhancing the criminology of mobility: A need for interdisciplinary and multi-sited research approaches” and as the guest editors for the issue served: Cristina Fernandez-Bessa, Valeria Ferraris, Witold Klaus and Mieke Kox. We would like to proudly inform you that the "Archive of Criminology" was not only accepted into the Scopus last autumn but also achieved the highest value of the CiteScore bibliometric index among the Polish legal journals indexed there (of which there are only 15 in total).

The so-called CiteScore (i.e. an index that provides the citation rate of texts from a given journal among all journals indexed in the Scopus database in the last 4 years) achieved a rate of 0.5 for the "Archives of Criminology".

We are pleased to announce that the new issue of our journal has jus been published. It contains a number of interesting and inspiring papers covering situation in Poland but also in other countries. With great pleasure, we announce that in November 2023, the international panel of experts operating within the Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) made the decision to include “Archives of Criminology” in the Scopus database.

Today Polish Minister of Education and Science published the new ranking of academic journals. The ranking is used to evaluate activities of Polish scholars. Our journal received 100 points (comparing to 70 points on the previous list).

We encourage authors who research links between alienation and delinquency/crime both from mainstream and critical criminological perspectives to share their findings with readers. The editors are compiling a special issue on mainstream and critical approaches to alienation-crime nexus. We are interested in both partisan and nonpartisan research or accounts on the relations between alienation and crime in macro, mezzo and micro levels of analysis. We welcome papers exploring and demonstrating the ways alienation penetrates the fabric of macro-level social institutions and, on the micro-level, the lives and minds of individual actors.

Z radością informujemy, że aktualizowana dziś przez Ministerstwo Edukacji i Nauki lista czasopism naukowych podniosła punktację „Archiwum Kryminologii”, które otrzymało 70 punktów.

22 września br. Komitet Nauk Prawnych PAN podjął uchwałę nr 03/2021 dotyczącą nieodpowiedniego trybu procedowania przez Ministra Edukacji i Nauki w sprawie zmian na liście czasopism naukowych.

Z ogromnym smutkiem przyjęliśmy wiadomość o śmierci w dniu 10.06.2021 r. Profesora Andrzeja Siemaszki – prawnika, kryminologa, wybitnego badacza, dydaktyka i naukowca, wieloletniego członka Komitetu Redakcyjnego „Archiwum Kryminologii”, cenionego autora oraz recenzenta tekstów w naszym czasopiśmie.

The editorial board of Archives of Criminology is pleased to announce that the second international competition for outstanding academic articles in the field of criminology by young criminologists has just come to an end. The jury decided to grant two awards:

The winning paper, entitled “Crime and Environment: Analysis of Facilities as Crime Risk Factors in Niš, Serbia”, was written by Dušan Stanković – a police officer in the Police Department in Niš, Republic of Serbia.

The second award goes to Andrzej Uhl from Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg for the article “Punishing White-Collar Offenders: Theory and Function”.

Both papers will be published shortly in the upcoming issue of the Archives of Criminology (No. 2/2020) with open access.

Papers submitted to the competition were evaluated by an international jury composed of: Irena Rzeplińska (chairperson of the jury; chairwomen of the Editorial Committee of the “Archives of Criminology”), Beata Gruszczyńska (University of Warsaw), Éva Inzelt (Eötvös Loránd University), Witold Klaus (Institute of Law Studies PAS; editor-in-chief of the “Archives of Criminology”), Krzysztof Krajewski (Jagiellonian University in Krakow), Helmut Kury (University of Freiburg), John Pratt (Victoria University of Wellington), Miroslav Scheinost (Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention), and Aleš Završnik (University of Ljubljana).

The editorial board of The Archives of Criminology are pleased to announce that the journal The Archives of Criminology, financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the programme ‘Support for scientific journals’, is now indexed in the ERIH PLUS database.

The editorial board of The Archives of Criminology are pleased to announce that the journal has received funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the programme ‘Support for scientific journals’.

The periodical, as covered by the programme, will be included in the list of scientific journals and reviewed material from international conferences. Academic articles published in The Archives of Criminology will count towards the assessment of academic research (20 points).
