The latest bibliometric data from the Scopus database confirm the strong position of ‘Archives of Criminology’, published by the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The biannual journal has reached the podium, ranking as the third most frequently cited Polish legal journal indexed in this prestigious database. This means that articles published in ‘Archives of Criminology’ are among the most frequently cited by authors of other scholarly publications among Polish legal journals indexed in Scopus.

The CiteScore indicator for 2025, which reflects the average number of citations per article published in the journal over the past three years, was 0.8 (an increase of 0.3 points from the previous year). Even more notable is the rise in the SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper) indicator, which more than doubled, reaching a value of 0.411. This metric reflects the average number of citations, normalised across academic disciplines and their specific citation practices, enabling meaningful comparisons of journals' actual research impact across diverse fields.

In terms of its position among all academic journals indexed in Scopus, ‘Archives of Criminology’ is placed in the third quartile (Q3), with an SJR (SCImago Journal Rank) value of 0.134. The SJR indicator measures not only the number of citations but also their quality, giving greater weight to citations from more influential and prestigious journals. The Q3 quartile indicates that the scientific journal ranks in the third out of four groups based on SJR values in its subject category.

These results confirm the growing international visibility of ‘Archives of Criminology’ and the steady increase of its academic influence and significance within the community of legal and criminological scholars.
