  • Archives of Criminology

    “Archiwum Kryminologii” (“Archives of Criminology”) is the oldest and the most prestigious Polish criminological journal, published since 1960 by the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The founder and the editor-in-chief was Proffesor Stanisław Batawia. The journal is published biannual and it is bilingual (papers in Polish and English are accepted). The Editorial Committee of the journal consists of eminent European criminologists and the reviewers are recruited from among experts in the field.

    The aim of the journal is to promote the outcomes of well-designed empirical research, as well as methodological and theoretical studies. Papers published in “Archiwum Kryminologii” (“Archives of Criminology”) focus on various topics: criminality and criminalisation, criminal and penal policy, the practices of criminal justice systems, victimisation and victims’ rights, crime prevention, juvenile delinquency, criminological theories etc. The journal constitutes a platform for scientific communication among academics especially (but not exclusively) from Poland and other Central and Eastern European countries.

    The Journal publishes original articles that utilize a broad range of methodologies and perspectives when examining crime, law, and criminal justice processing.

    All submitted manuscripts undergo a double blind peer review process before publication via an online-first model in Open Access.

  • Polish Bulletin of Criminology

    The Polish Bulletin of Criminology (formerly Bulletin of the Professor Stanisław Batawia Polish Society of Criminology) has been published since 1991. Until 2008 it was published in paper form (eISSN: 2717-440X), and since 2009 it has been published only electronically.

    The aim of The Polish Bulletin of Criminology is first of all to promote Polish criminological thought, with particular emphasis on young scientists and individuals preparing doctoral dissertations who would like to publish their research or theoretical analysis. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process before publication.

  • Contemporary Central & East European Law

    Contemporary Central & East European Law (CC&EEL) is a scientific journal of the Institute of Law Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, replacing the suspended in 2000 quarterly bilingual journal published since 1964, titled ‘Droit Polonais Contemporain – Polish Contemporary Law’ (ISSN 0070-7325). 

    The aim of the CC&EEL is to publish the works of outstanding researchers from the region concentrating on current legal issues relevant to Central and Eastern Europe. Papers concerning all areas of law, in particular adopting comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, are welcomed.

    The aim of the CC&EEL is to publish the works of outstanding researchers from the region concentrating on current legal issues relevant to Central and Eastern Europe.

  • Polish Yearbook of International Law

    Polish Yearbook of International Law (PYIL; ISSN: 0554-498X; eISSN: 2957-1510) is a scientific journal established in 1966 published by the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Committee on Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, owners of the title. The focus of the Yearbook is on public and private international law as well as European law, with a preference for Central Eastern European scholarship and manuscripts which focus on the region. Each volume of the PYIL also includes a selection of texts on the Polish practice in public international law and book reviews. PYIL is published annually, new volumes are available in August each year. Each volume includes 12-16 articles, depending on the number and the quality of the submissions in a particular as well as their lenght.

    A paper version shall be considered authentic. PYIL is indexed in, among others: (i) the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI); (ii) Scopus; (iii) the European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) PLUS; (iv) the Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (CEJSH);  (v) Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ); (vi) the Polish and Italian (category A) lists of scientific journals.

  • Studia Prawnicze / The Legal Studies

    Studia Prawnicze [The Legal Studies] (ISSN: 0039-3312; eISSN: 2719-4302) is an academic journal with a tradition dating from 1963 (quarterly until 2019, and half-yearly since 2020). The journal has been published by ILS PAS from its inception. What sets The Legal Studies apart from other legal journals is its strong theoretical slant. As the journal accepts relatively extensive proposals (often up to 2 publishing sheets – 80,000 characters, including spaces and annotations), Authors can publish in-depth and multifaceted analyses of juridical issues based on a wide range of literature and jurisprudence. The journal is open to the entire academic legal community. The journal publishes in Polish and English.
